Summary
Dorothy and her dog, Toto live in the midst of the prairies with her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em. Their house is very simple and doesn’t have many things in it. There are many cyclones in their country.
One time a big cyclone comes. Aunt Em and uncle Henry hide in the cellar of the house, but Dorothy is in the house and the cyclone is too strong and blows their house away. Then Dorothy feels tired and falls asleep. When she wakes up she sees Toto in the house. Dorothy takes a basket and puts some bread in. She opens the door and she sees a small country and with little people and they all are very happy.
Then the Good Witch of the North tells her that her house killed the Evil Witch of the East and she died, but Dorothy isn’t happy. She just wants to go home.
The Witch of the North tells her she can find the Wizard of Oz to help her and take the shoes of the evil witch of the East and follow the Yellow Brick Road.
Then Dorothy happily goes walk walks and finds a farm and a pole that has a scarecrow on it. Suddenly, the scarecrow tells her that he wants her to get him down and Dorothy quickly helps him.
Scarecrow tells Dorothy that he wants a brain. Dorothy tells him he should come with her to see the Wizard of Oz.
Then they follow the Yellow Brick Road. They see a rusted Tin Wood Man who is groaning. He tells Dorothy to use the oil-can and oil him. Dorothy oils him carefully. When he can move, he is very happy. He told them that he wants a heart. Then Dorothy tells him that he should go with them.
Then they go together. They walk on the Yellow Brick Road. Then a lion jumps out and roars at them. They are all afraid. The lion wants to bite Toto but Dorothy hits him then lion cries, he says that he just a cowardly lion. He is afraid of everything. He wants to be brave and be the king of the beast. Dorothy says he should come with them to the Wizard of Oz. Then he happily goes with them.
They walk and talk and see a big ditch. Then lion has a idea to help them to jump across the ditch. They do it!
Then they meet two monsters. They have bear-bodies and tiger-heads and they go towards ditch again. Tin Man uses his axe to chop a tree down to make a bridge. Then they run over it the monsters walk slowly on the bridge because they to big and Tin men cuts the bridge and the monsters fell down and die.
Then they keep on their adventure. They come to a large river so Tin Man makes a raft and finds a pole. They all sit on the raft but scarecrow stands and uses the pole to row the boat. The current is so quick and he falls in. He catches the pole at the last minutes.
When Dorothy and her friends get to the shore they see a stork and they talk to the stork to help them to safety. The scarecrow and the stork help them.
When scarecrow sees his friends he is so happy and they keep walking. They arise to a big flower bed and Dorothy, lion, and Toto all sleep. Scarecrow and Tin Man carry Toto and Dorothy. They can’t carry lion because he is too big.
Tin Man sees a cat mat wants to eat a mouse so he uses his axe to frighten the cat. Tin man saves the mouse. Tin Wood Man makes a wood truck and ties a thin rope around the mice to tow the lion. Dorothy wakes up and Scarecrow tells her every thing. They all thank the mice. When lion wakes up he also thanks them again and again.
They are all hungry and Dorothy asks a women to give them some food and the women nicely gives them and the men tell them Oz is terrible so be careful!
Then they go for few minute and they see the Emerald City. A green man helps them to put on green glasses and they happily go. They go in to the Emerald City and a green man tells them to see Oz. Dorothy goes first. When she goes inside a big head comes out and asks her what she wants ?
Dorothy says she wants to go home but Oz tells her that y she must to kill the Witch the West for him. All her friends get the same answer from Oz. They sadly go to kill the witch of the west, however, there are many animals trying to kill them while they are walking. The wolf leader kill by Tin Woodman and the bees sting Tin Woodman and they all die. The evil witch call the wings monkeys to kill Tin woodman and Scarecrow, and asks the winged monkeys to bring the loin and Dorothy to her cave to be slaves. One day, Dorothy pour water to the evil witch, which kills her accidentally.
Dorothy frees all the slaves in the castle. The slaves help Tin WoodMan and scarecrow return to their original body to payback Dorothy. Dorothy takes the magic cap of the evil witch and she also finds out the charm which can call the winged monkeys to help them three times. Dorothy calls the monkeys to take them back to the Emerald city when they got lost.
Every body is surprised they still survive. They meet Oz and ask him to realize his promises. Oz admits that he is not a wizard but a ordinary person. However , he still make a brain, a heart and brave to scarecrow, Tin woodman and lion. Oz makes a balloon to fly back his circus. Somebody told them that they should find the witch of south but it will have some difficult.
The witch of the south want the magic cap so Dorothy give her and she teach Dorothy how to use the magic shoes and Dorothy huges her friends and she back home. When she sees aunt Am, she is so happy, she is finally back home.
My thought
Scarecrow is funny guy. He always does some stupid things, such as he falling down in the river while his team tries to pass it. He walk as cock –eyed it will let me laugh. He also is very optimistic all the time . I think he doesn’t need brain, he learn many things in this travels I like him very much
Tin Wood Man is a nice man, when he sees somebody has a problem he always will help them. I think he doesn’t need a heart he is a nice one in this long adventure. He has a great hand and he can use his axe to make many things, like: raft, a small bridge and a wood truck I need to learn from him a lot
Lion is a cowardly beast but when his friends have one in danger he will protect them .
I dislike Oz I thought he isn’t a nice wizard but his a humbug it let me feel disappointed. I think when Emerald City villager know it he will be died.
Dorothy is a nice and pretty girl .she always perseverance to find her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. We should study to her.
I think all the characters change a lot Lion be brave and be comes the king of the beast, scarecrow be more smarter and be the Emerald city leader Tin Wood Man who never cares about him self and Dorothy learns many things from her friend and because her good will so she back to her house.
What I learned
I learned that friends need to help each other and I learned from scarecrow to be shouldn’t don’t always be sad We need to be kind and nice to others, like Tin Wood don’t always cares your self and when we face danger we need to be strong and brave like loin don’t be scared.
We need to have good will, shouldn’t do thing do half and do another thing like Dorothy. We should not like Oz always lie to others. If you lie to anyone , no body will be your friend and no body will trust you. That is sad thing.
I also learn many wards in this book and some grammar. you won’t be perfect but if you learn you will be a good person. It is first time I read English book. I feel reading English book is fun and let I learn many thing.
I suggest you to read this book. It has some funny things and you can learn many things in this book I think you will love it.
